Little Millet Venpongal

500 gms, 1 Kg

Ingredients

Viruthai Little Millet Rice – 1 cup

Moon dhal – ½ cup

Garlic and ginger – 1 spoon finely chopped

Curry leaves

Cumin- 1 spoon

Pepper – 2 spoons

Ghee – 5 spoons

Asafoetida –small pinch

Water – 4 cup

Steps:

  1. Heat a pan add Little Millet Rice.fry for a minute.Transfer it to another bowl.
  2. Add moong dhal to it. Fry it till it turns brown in colour.
  3. Mix rice and moong dhal and rinse twice.Soak it for 10 minutes
  4. Heat the pressure cooker and pour 2 spoon of ghee
  5. Add Cumin,pepper,Garlic and ginger.let them them cook for a minute
  6. Add Asafoetida and curry leave
  7. Add soaked rice and water to it
  8. Once it comes to boil close the lid and pressure cook for 4 whistles
  9. At once the pressue releases add remaining 3 spoon of ghee and mix it gently

Serve hot with sambar and coconut chutney.
